DMX MUSIC LAUNCHES SERVICE TO HOME PCs VIA DIRECWAY IN A STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH HUGHES NETWORK SYSTEMS

Digital Music Provider Introduces Service With Ten Unique Music Channels

Los Angeles (July 10, 2002) – DMX MUSIC, the premier provider of unique music experiences to homes and businesses worldwide, today announced it has entered into a strategic partnership with Hughes Network Systems to provide unmatched streaming audio experiences via DIRECWAY™, the world's leading broadband by satellite service for consumer, small business and enterprise markets

"DMX MUSIC is excited about partnering with DIRECWAY because it fits one of our key global strategies to bring our unique and personal music experiences directly to consumers," said Paul Noack, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategic Officer, DMX MUSIC. "We are pleased to further our relationship with Hughes Network Systems as we broaden DMX MUSIC’s scope of business."

Initially, DMX MUSIC will provide DIRECWAY 10 music channels as part of the DIRECWAY basic package. The 10 DMX MUSIC channels will be multicast, giving DIRECWAY consumers’ greater bandwidth and the ability to simultaneously surf the web. The 10 DMX MUSIC channels include Classic Rock, Hottest Hits, Smooth Jazz, "The DMX Listening Room," and "Holidays and Happenings." DIRECWAY customers will also be able to view the artist, song title and album name on their computer screen for every song as it’s playing.

"DMX MUSIC is a top-tier music service, and we are pleased to bring it to our customers, primarily because of its depth of music programming," said Peter Gulla, consumer sales and marketing vice president for Hughes Network Systems. "And with its commitment to deliver content beyond the television, DMX MUSIC is a natural partner for us as we strive to provide better experience and better value for our customers."

In June 2001, DMX MUSIC and Hughes Network System (HNS) launched ‘Music By DIRECWAY,’ a service that uses the Hughes satellite network to provide businesses with music content, in-store messaging and advertising. The service is available through the first worldwide joint marketing agreement between the two companies. Hughes Network Systems, a unit of Hughes Electronic Corporation, is the world's largest provider of broadband satellite network solutions for businesses and consumers, with over 400,000 systems installed in more than 85 countries. HNS pioneered the development of high-speed satellite Internet access services, which it markets globally under the DirecPC and DIRECWAYTM brands and is a major supplier of mobile satellite networks and user terminals.
